Older people's mental health service mapping 2007
New for 2007 is the combined Service and Financial Mapping Website. The site has been designed to initially allow mapping leads and their delegates to securely enter service details as part of the Mental Health Service Mapping programme 2007 and now contains the results of the mapping.
The site will be open for patch, service registration and delegation on Monday 19th March. The service census date was the 31st March and from that date all service information may be entered.

The Older People’s Mental Health Mapping framework was launched in November 2005 to coincide with the publication of the service development guide.
A similar process of mapping, which allows monitoring of service development, has already been developed as part of the National Service Frameworks for mental health and for children. This has also proved invaluable for local providers and commissioners as a basis for commissioning discussions, as it provides a transparent way of benchmarking service elements alongside activity data.
The mapping framework should help organisations understand local service arrangements and explore how some service elements may replace others. It also aims to identify ageism in service delivery and provide the basis of a local service directory for users and carers.
Services are identified by type and described in some detail, including staffing, availability and functions.
